Cascade along the Middle Prong of Little River in Tremont, Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Tremont Cascade Spring

The Middle Fork of Little River within Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP) is a target rich environment for photographers.  This area is known locally as “Tremont” after either the historic logging town and/or the current Tremont Institute.  A dirt road parallels the mountain stream before ending at the intersection of Lynn Camp and Thunderhead Prongs.  One of the most visible and easy to find cascades is the one shown in this frame.  As you round a bend on the dirt road, you cannot miss the semi-circular drop.  I always admired photographs made by Richard Bernabe, Joseph Rossbach and Tony Sweet at this location.  It’s hard for me not to stop any time I am passing by, if for nothing else than to pay tribute by snapping a few quick images.
