I had the great opportunity to work with the folks over at Landscape Photography Magazine to showcase one of my favorite places to photograph, the Outer Banks of North Carolina. While much has changed along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore since I was introduced as a child, it remains one of my favorite places to visit. I never find myself without ample inspiration. Check out the free content article offered by Landscape Photography Magazine online and let me know what you think. Big thanks to the folks over at the magazine for the opportunity, and to Really Right Stuff for sponsoring the story (I’m a big fan of the gear and no, I’m not sponsored or paid to say that).
Several of us from the Bowie-Crofton Camera Club were interested in photographing the rhododendron at Roan Mountain, if not this year then next.
What would the cost be for a photo tour, including sunrise and sunset vantage points, and how long would the various hikes be/level of difficulty?
Thanks!
Beth
Hi Beth! I’d love to introduce a group of folks to the Roan Highlands! I’m booked pretty solid during the projected peak this year, but we could certainly get something on the books for next year. Would you mind tossing me an e-mail at info@markvandyke.net to discuss the details? Let me know how many folks are interested and I can get you a quote. The hike is along the Appalachian Trail over a series of high grassy meadows. From the parking area at Carver’s Gap to Grassy Ridge is just shy of three miles (about a five to six mile round trip hike). The peak bloom has been between June 10th and June 15th for the past five years or so. The window is fairly tight because of the exposure to storms, rain, wind and other environmental factors. Look forward to hearing from you!
