What the small village of Duck, North Carolina lacks in public beach access it tries to make up for with beautiful soundside parks. A one-mile, elevated wooden boardwalk snakes around the shores of the Currituck Sound and through retail shopping centers over an area of roughly eleven acres. Platforms for fishing, crabbing, and launching/docking small watercraft add to the amenity. Benches, trash cans, and solar walkway lighting invite visitors and locals alike.
The views are largely unobstructed and facing west. The Duck boardwalk is undoubtedly a sunset opportunity for photographers. Like most locations in the Outer Banks (OBX), water is a primary element. When the winds calm (which isn’t often) the water becomes a mirror. That’s where the magic is.
