Sunrise at Cape Hatteras National Seashore
Photo of the Day: February 13, 2022

After several successful winters, I was baited into extending my typical one-month stay into a two-month adventure including February.  It didn’t go well.  January was a bust.  Weather was cold and wet.  My productivity was minimal.  February was much the same.  There were periods of two to three days that we stayed inside the house without leaving.  That’s highly unusual for me in the Outer Banks.

This was one of the few good moments.  It was the morning before I had to pack the car and leave.  An unusually high tide was pushing up the nearshore beach and leaving behind some puddling.  I used the temporarily standing water to reflect the interesting clouds and sunrise.  It was bittersweet, though, knowing that I had almost sixty days consecutive behind the camera and I had done so little.  Can’t fight Mother Nature.
