Indian Paintbrush wildflower on the Southern Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina.
Indian Paintbrush Green Flowers

While my photography client and I were working a roadside meadow together along the southern Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina, she called me over to see some beautiful water droplets that were hanging from the stigma of each greenish/yellow flower on an Indian Paintbrush wildflower.  I thought it was a really neat find and just the thing I try to use my macro rig to capture.

The Indian Paintbrush is an uncommon flower in North Carolina (S3 vulnerable per NatureServe).  It features beautiful scarlett red bracts, attracting the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird for pollination.   However, the flowers are actually small and greenish/yellow.  I thought the water droplets really provided an opportunity to focus in on this neat aspect of an otherwise uncommon to North Carolina wildflower.
