Dew on Virginia Bluebells near the Potomac River, Virginia.
Virginia Bluebells Dew

I didn’t grow up in a naturally rich environment.  The suburbs of Washington D.C. are not exactly a playground of wild environments.  However, there are surprising pockets of abundance.  Every spring, along the rich alluvial floodplains of the Potomac River, Virginia Bluebells bloom in profusion.  Virginia Bluebells are spring ephemerals, bell-shaped and sky blue with a surprising range of color-changing attributes.  My favorite time to photograph the Bluebells are when they are still in the bud stage, tiny, wrinkled clusters of rich color.
